    You're not the only one. I bought a brand new Fender American Pro II P Bass and had my regular guy do the set up but all the store had was Ernie Ball Cobalt Flats. They sound like garbage. Way too thin and buzzy for my liking.

      So it's not not just me then. I had the previous strings on for about 8 month tho. So maybe taken them off, after being on so long messed things up a bit? The intonation was completely off as well, who knows?

    I really like playing fancy but I was at the rehearsal the other day I started to go high to elevate the song but the main problem is that you lose the bottom end and suddenly you stop vibrating the whole room, your bandmates and the audiance if it is a live situation. I think it is a good idea to have fun with all the notes while maintaining a solid groove. Great playing btw.

    • @OMS111

      You definitely have to think differently with a a band. But every bands different. It it's an originals band, i like to try and be as creative as possible. If the guitarist doesn't like it, probs not the band for me. I've been lucky in that case, never had that problem. Covers bands are another story lol. Cheers!

    Explore the positioning of the LH technique and fingering intensity. Dial back the fingers when layering coz its all too narrow a spectrum the bass and your playing has done here, ie the track gets muddy by using same everything... the composition is righteous, but you need to feel it more by placing your lh fingers in different places. You may have a limitation with the EB for that. Spiking the signals is also going on so that's either the comp/limiter maxing out or is that a grounding issue?

    • @OMS111
      @OMS111 21 день тому

      I have used both compression and limiter. It's probably that your hearing. I use audacity to record and mix, learned a few tips along the way, but by know means an expert when it comes to recording and mixing. Most of what i do solo is rough, experimental and in no way professional. There's something about that i like. Not too much polish. Glad yi like the tune :)

    • @JT-si6bl
      @JT-si6bl 21 день тому

      @@OMS111 Audacity is good, amazing its free too! I dont recall it having a setting to auto clip or 'normalise' the soundwave, but best keep the saturation a tad lower, only because the same fx/levels will push the speakers' frequency harder to peak and spike. More so when layering the same set up of one instrument with hard playing. If you get a mix with mono to compare with stereo, you get an idea. Exploit what the MM is known for with frequency range separation. The thing about flat wounds is to get 'that' MM sound, the player has to hit harder, Round wounds is a cinch and can be played softer for the really rich tone without the peaks. ;)

  • @JT-si6bl
    @JT-si6bl 22 дні тому

    Got that Vulf vibe with the flats bedded in. Though its the p-up doing the work playing flats that hard kinda defeats the need for flats on an EB sinc EB is about that juicy top end at the bridge. If the EB had a neck bridge - well thats SUB as F
